Introduction: Physiology
This chapter covers the structures and functions of the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and functions of the nervous system.
This color-enhanced image was made with an electron microscope, so the objects it depicts are extremely small. Do you know what they are? This incredible photo shows red blood cells leaking out of a ruptured blood vessel.

A spider web? This is actually a nerve cell, the cell of the nervous system. In this chapter, you will learn more about nerve cells such as this one and their impressive abilities.

Level 32 - (9:b,c,e)Your body has many systems that help you maintain homeostasis: the nervous system and the circulatory, respiratory systems. The nervous system is a complex network of nervous tissue that sends electrical and chemical signals. The nervous system includes the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS) together. The nervous system mediates communication between different parts of the body as well as the body’s interactions with the environment. The cardiovascular system is an organ system that moves nutrients, hormones, gases and wastes to and from body cells, and distributes heat to maintain homeostasis. The main components of the cardiovascular system are the heart, the blood vessels, and the blood..The human respiratory system brings oxygen, O2, into the body and releases carbon dioxide, CO2, into the atmosphere. Oxygen is drawn in through the respiratory tract and is then delivered to the blood. Your next quest is to complete viewing both media activities that are posted below. After watching them both you are to create your own 3 minute less EDUCreation on the Nervous System or Heart Anatomy. Achievements 5. Click on button to find out how to make a educreation video.
