Native vs Invasive grass competition
These grasses will be put to the test to see how quickly they grow and which ones are more likely to survive in low water conditions and how they impact each others ecosystem.
Rye Grassa non-native but a non-invasive species we use in lawns and pastures
Deer Grassa true native plant that is very adaptive to low water habitants and provides good habitant for dove and quail.
RipGut BromeA non-native yet invasive species that takes over open spaces and grazing property and causing cysts in livestock .

Level 2 investigation: Growing Rye,Deer Grasses and Rip gut brome.
From your teacher get three 6 inch pots and fill them with the appropriate amount of soil and pre soak them before you sow the seed in the pots. In addition, get plant labels and mark them with your name, today's date, and the type of seed you are sowing. Once the pots are watered and label you and your ab partner needs to get the seed from your teacher and place 10 seeds in each pot so that the seeds are evenly spaced. Cover them with very little soil just lightly sprinkle them with soil and gently push the top soil on the seed. Water them one more time so that the soil and water have good contact with the seed. Place your pots on the growth chamber in our classroom so that the temperature and light with be controlled electronically. Once that is complete you will get one more pot and prepare as you did previously and this time obtain 5 of each seed so you will have 15 seeds (5 rye grass, 5 deer grass and 5 rip gut brome). Sow them evenly in the 6 inch pot and prepare as you did your control. It will 10-21 days to germinate. You will need to check them every 3 or so days during the first week and then more frequently after that.
Level 2 VDOs: How to Start a scientific Method paper
While you are waiting for your seeds to germinate begin your pre-writing phase which means write everything you know about seeds and seed germination such as, are the plants you are using Dicots or monocots and what type of a root system or how many cotyledons do they have and what does that say about the speed of germination? Any way, write all your know about plants and the type of plants you are working with, guess which of the three seeds will germinate first and which one will out compete the others hypothetically speaking, don't worry if you are right or wrong just start. Post your pre-write the Google Form or Document below depending on how your teacher wants to make it available.
