The process
Photosynthesis, the process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform
light energy into chemical energy.
light energy into chemical energy.
Level 10 Guided Question: Which factors (see above) affect the rate of photosynthesis in a plant?
Read the posted chapter and answer the questions in the Google Form and click submit when you are finished studying the chapter.
After you have completely read the chapter of "Photosynthesis" please take the quiz below.
Level 10 Investigation: How does a plant affect the concentration of carbon dioxide gas in a closed system under conditions of light and dark?
Plants use the sun's energy to produce food for their own growth. Sunlight captured by the plant is stored as chemical potential energy within glucose molecules (C6H12O6). Organisms that make their own food, like plants, are autotrophs.
6CO2 + 6H2O + LIIGHT ENERGY = C6H12O6 + 6O2
Heterotrophs, life the caterpillar, consume other organisms for food. To release the energy stored within food molecules, organisms carry out cellular respiration, a process that depends on oxygen produced by photosynthesis. Photosynthesis and cellular respiration result in the exchange of carbon between living things and the non-living environment.
In this lab watch the video below and read the directions in the data loggers or click on the pics that can be found below in the picture galley. The data collection and the questions that you will complete are in the data-logger under the experiment entitled, "Photosynthesis".

Level 9 Elaborate: How do plants capture the sun's energy and turn it into chemical energy?
Below is an interactive presentation please read it and when you get to the "Quick Action – INB Template" do the assignment by clicking the button below or get one from the teacher.
After you make your leaf model please VDO yourself briefly going over the process of photosynthesis in the leaf the VDO should not be more that 1 minute! Upload it to your Google Classroom.
