After viewing the VDOs and reading the chapter what new question about plants do you have? And how would you answer the guiding question? (What in plants' physiology that make them so old, so large and cycle so many nutrients?)

I would have to say that the cell wall is the reason that the plants can grow so large. The cell wall gives plants rigitity and makes it sturdy enough to beable to grow to large sizes. The cell wall is also the reason that plants can be so old. Because the cell wall makes the cells so rigid, the plant is able to stand up to the elemets. And the plants can cycle so many nutrients because of the vascular tissue, or the xylem and phloem. The vascular tissure is in charge of pulling water up the plant and takes food/nutrients down the plant. I don't really have any more questions.

I don't have any other questions I'd ask but knowing the importance of the cells in plants and their functions is vital for the research that may be useful in the long run. From the many years of evolution and the climate constantly changing everyday, trees are able to adapt to the new climates and retain nutrients which help them grow. The reasoning for the trees being old is due to the fact where they are located and what kind of soil that they are planted in

If I were to ask a question it would be how long can one plant or tree live for? Not depending on climate, soil content, or location.

A plants cell wall increases the life span of the cell which a allows them to grow older then most animals. With increased size of cells this also means the plant will be larger. Photosynthesis helps the plants cycle more nutrients through the plant easily. Plant also have vascular tissue which helps them move food and water throughout the plant. I don't have any other questions I would ask

This is my answer to how can plants adapt or evolve when they can't move. The reason is because they can create there own food. Plants also adapt well to the climate making them more survivable

I don't have any other questions. I believe that the soil, location, and climate are the factors that make trees and plants what they are. They are all different and I believe it is because of that

The reason that plants grow so old is where they are located and if they are in the right climate to grow old. If the plant belongs in the sun, but its in the old it might not even grow at all. The sunlight might have a factor on it to. The plants above ground need sunlight for nutrients. And if they don't have that they will not grow.

I don't have any other questions. If the plants have the cells and sunlight to grow they will. The sunlight will give the plant nutrients so they can grow old

My question is how can a plants vary in there life span compared to other similar plants? -What I think that allows the plants to grow so old and cycle so many nutrients is the way they were engineered to be that way and their incredible cell structure that's always working to try and keep the plant pleased for such a long period of time.

I think it is photosynthesis that makes the plant so old which make them have a long life time to cycle so many nutrients though the plant. The cell of the plant also makes them live a long life and it depends on how big it could get. I don't have any other questions that I would ask.

Since the major things that are different in a plant cell are the cell wall and the chloroplasts, I think this is what makes the plant so old, so large, and able to cycle so many nutrients. I think that it is the process of photosynthesis because they can make their own food and rely on themselves for food and energy.

I don't really have questions. And I think that what helps make plants so old is the cell wall because its the main part of the plant that protects it and helps it grow.

Plants are unique cause they have a cell wall. Cellulose give the cell its shaped that's why plants are so tall. Chloroplast allows it to have many nutrients flow through it. Cytoskeletins are a part of structure it moves nutrients within a cell.

I think that the cell wall plays a major role in the plants' ability to grow so tall,so old, and cycle so many nutrients. And also the vascular tissue which is what cycles the nutrients throughout the plant. Also, I think the process of photosynthesis helps plants in living such long lives because they produce their own food and don't rely on anything else to eat. My question would be: Why do some plants or trees grow longer or stronger than others that are the same or similar species?

Plants have been evolving for millions of years, they have adapted. There cells have cell walls that stack like bricks and it makes them very sturdy and strong. If u think about it plants have been around for so long it makes sense that there are trees that are thousands of years old. If humans lived for as long as plants did I'm sure we would adapt to live thousands of years old too

I think that the cell wall is a huge part of the plant so that it can grow larger, taller and older. The vascular tissue helps the pants cycle the nutrients through the plant so that the plant can grow.

I think photosynthesis has a big part in what's in plants that make them so old and they live longer because of how many nutrients plants have.

Some of the factors that help plants grow so old and so tall are the cell walls, the chloroplasts which allow it to do photosynthesis and produce sugar, vascular tissue that cycles water and nutrients up and down the plant. Some other factors are the soil and the climate. I would like to know why plants that grow taller seem to live longer, is there a direct link between the two?

After watching the videos I don't really have any further questions. Plants have grown so old because as we all know they have been here long before the animal kingdom and they all just have adapted to their various types of environments. Their cell wall being the most important in a plant cell helps them grow as strong as they do and they have all the nutrients they need from the soil and adapt in the environment they are in.

after reading these comments and doing research i've come to believe photosynthesis are a big part of why plants become so old. they cycle so many nutrients because they need the nutrients to survive, and since they get so many nutrients and since they go through the proccess of photosynthesis explains why they get to live for so long

what makes plants so old is that they go through photosynthesis and cells staking up like bricks what makes them so tall. how old they get depends on the seed of its a tree they live really long but if its like a sunflower seed they live only for a few months. i do not have questions at the moment

Plants were here first than humans and they evolved over time, also because they store up nutrients which makes them cycle and always eating. I don't have any questions.

The cell wall probably protect the cell and helps it grow older and the vacuole that holds the water holds it for longer before it goes limp

I believe that the cell wall would increase the life span of a cell which allows them to grow. I also believe that something that would help plants cycle their nutrients would have to be photosynthesis. Lastly I believe that the vacuole would have to play a big role in all this because it stores wast and water while supporting the cell structure. My question would have to be what makes plants so important to our environment?

Interesting, I had not thought about the vacuole being a factor, good point. Plants have alot to give such as soil nutrient cycling, can you list at list two?

I think what helps plants live so long is as long as humans don't harm them nature takes its course to help them stay alive and thrivefor many years. I don't have anymore questions I think all these videos answered what I had.

Plant cells are large because they have a cell wall. The wall is made of cellulose and lignin which make it strong. They can pass a lot of nutrients because they have a large central vacoule that holds tons of nutrients water and waste

The ability to make their own food as well as respire provides them easy access to energy so that they can grow and survive in many conditions. In addition their cellulose in their cell wall allows them to continue to grow for many years as long as the environment does not hinder them. My question is how do plants continue to change and survive in extreme environments ?

Are plants able to fossilize to make gas oil? The reason that plants are so successful in being old are tall is that they are able to stack them selfs with many cells and keep a system going that way. Also when time gets roughy with food and not much sunlight they have there own storages of food. Third thing is that they are able to make there own food they don't have to depend on other organisms other than themselves

Why is photosynthesis so big for plants? Plants are able to grow so tall and cycle so many nutrients because their cell was are strong and help them grow bigger and stronger. They are able to grow so much because they are able to make their on food and be able to use it themselves.
